At Tra Que vegetable village, you will learn about the history of the village, many kinds of different vegetables and herbs grown in the garden, and meet local farmers who will share stories about their daily lives and how they grow and protect their crops from pests. After that, you will take a short break and enjoy Bánh Xèo (Vietnamese sizzling pancake) and Tam Huu, two very famous local dishes that use many fresh herbs from the garden. Especially Tam Huu, a specialty that is unique to this village.
The next stop is a local market—a small but lively place where most products are freshly brought in every morning. You will experience the bustling morning atmosphere, see locals buying, selling, and bargaining. Your guide will introduce you to different goods in the market, various fruits, and show you how to choose fresh fish and seafood. You will also have the chance to taste seasonal fruits and enjoy local food such as sweet soup desserts and rice crackers.
Another famous place you will visit is the Bay Mau Coconut Forest, a special attraction that draws a large number of visitors every year. Passing through small canals, you will experience riding a traditional basket boat, try paddling it yourself, learn some simple fishing techniques, and watch entertaining performances by local fishermen such as spinning the basket boat and even singing karaoke. After about 45 minutes on the boat, you will take a short rest and enjoy Cao Lau, Hoi An’s signature dish, along with coconut sweet soup, a local specialty found only in this area.
