    Day 1

    Dushanbe- Darvoz

    Start of the journey toward the Pamir Mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop at the ruins of the ancient city of Hulbuk (10th century)—an important historical landmark of the region. The route then continues over the Shurobod Pass, where the first panoramic views of the Pamir Mountains come into view. Descending toward the Panj River, you will catch your first glimpse of Afghanistan—literally on the opposite bank. The road follows the river through picturesque villages. Arrival in Darvoz. Dinner and overnight stay at a guesthouse.

    Khulbuk is one of the most important historical and archaeological sites in Tajikistan, dating back to the 9th–12th centuries during the era of the medieval Khuttal kingdom. The site is known for the remains of an ancient palace complex, beautiful architectural elements, and its museum showcasing artifacts discovered during excavations.

    Botanical Garden

    We continue our journey along the Panj River—one of the most beautiful stretches of the Pamir Highway. Along the way, we’ll stop at authentic villages, such as the Vanj Valley, where you’ll have the chance to experience traditional ways of life. The route passes through narrow gorges and rocky sections where the road is literally carved into the mountains. Arrival in Khorog, the capital of Gbao. Visit to the Khorog Botanical Garden (one of the highest-altitude gardens in the world) with a panoramic view of the city. Dinner and overnight stay at a guesthouse.

    Khorog- Ishkashim

    Ishkashim, the district’s administrative center. On the way, we’ll stop at the Garm-Chashma and Avdzh hot springs (swimming is optional). The road runs along the Panj River with views of the mountains of Afghanistan. Upon arrival, take a walk around Ishkashim to get a feel for local life and the atmosphere of this border town. Dinner and overnight stay at a guesthouse.

    Garm Chashma is one of the most famous natural hot springs in the Pamir region of Tajikistan. Known for its warm mineral-rich waters and beautiful mountain scenery, the site has been visited for centuries for relaxation and traditional healing purposes. We will also stop at Garm Chashma, where travelers will have the opportunity to enjoy the natural hot springs and experience one of the region’s most unique attractions.

    Ishkashim-Yamchun

    The journey begins in the Wakhan Valley—one of the most picturesque and historically rich regions of the Pamir Mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop in the village of Vrang, where you’ll visit an ancient Buddhist complex (a stupa and monastery ruins)—a rare testament to the region’s Buddhist past along the Great Silk Road. Next, visit the famous Yamchun Fortress, perched high above the valley, offering impressive panoramic views of the Wakhan and the Hindu Kush mountains. Afterward, relax in the hot springs of Bibi Fatima Zahra, known for their healing properties. Explore traditional Pamiri houses and the region’s culture. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel (Yamchun area).

    Yamchun-Langar-Murghab

    The journey continues through the Wakhan Valley with a stop in Langar, home to ancient petroglyphs and offering beautiful views of the valley. Next, we’ll ascend over the Kargush Pass (4,300 m) and emerge onto the high-altitude Pamir Plateau. The landscapes become rugged and unique—a true atmosphere of the Roof of the World. Arrival in Murghab. Visit to the local market. Dinner and overnight stay at a guesthouse.

    Murghab- Bulunkul- Yashilkul

    After breakfast, departure from Murghab toward Bulunkul. En route, a stop at Lake Yashilkul—one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in the Pamir Mountains, known for its vivid colors and unique natural surroundings. Arrival in Bulunkul, a walk around the area, and an opportunity to experience the daily life of local residents in one of the region’s most remote areas. After the tour, the journey continues with a return to Khorog. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
