Please come directly to Kitchen Kyoto, about a 2-minute walk from Kitayama Station, Exit 4, on the Kyoto Subway Karasuma Line. Look for the KOKORO Kitchen sign at the entrance. The cooking class is held on the second floor above the cafe.

What to expect

Meet at KOKORO Kitchen Kyoto and step into the peaceful second-floor cooking studio above the wellness cafe.

After a warm welcome, your instructor will introduce Japanese wellness food culture and the meaning of bento. Learn how Japanese bento expresses seasonality, color, balance, and care for the person who will enjoy it.

During this hands-on class, prepare a seasonal Japanese wellness bento. The menu may include onigiri, tamagoyaki, gomaae, seasonal vegetable side dishes, and shio-koji chicken. Menu details may vary depending on the season and ingredient availability.

You will also learn about Japanese fermented seasonings such as soy sauce, miso, and shio-koji, as well as how to arrange a beautiful bento using color, height, dividers, space, and seasonal ingredients.

After cooking, sit down and enjoy your completed bento together. The class includes a seasonal Japanese welcome drink and an English recipe so you can recreate the dishes at home.

Guests are welcome to relax at the wellness cafe downstairs before or after the class, depending on opening hours and seating availability.
