In this tour, we will contextualize the main dates, events and characters related to the Age of Navigations and also to the Discovery of Brazil. In the historic and traditional neighborhood of Bethlehem, we will tour the monuments linked to this so important historical period: the Monastery of Jerónimos and the Tower of Bethlehem, built in the 16th century, and the Pattern of Discoveries.

One of the most important monuments in Portugal, built in the 16th century in Manueline style. The monastery was funded with wealth of maritime trade and is directly linked to the major Portuguese shipping. Many sailors prayed there before leaving for the sea.
A modern monument (XX century) built to honor the Portuguese navigators. The sculpture shows several historical figures, such as Henry the Navigator, leading explorers, cartographers and missionaries. It symbolizes the Portuguese maritime expansion and the discoveries of new routes and territories.
A fortress built in the early 16th century on the banks of the River Tagus. It served to defend the entrance to the port of Lisbon and also as a symbolic starting point for maritime expeditions. Today it is one of the greatest symbols of Lisbon.
