  • 1

Step into the powerful story of emigration at the Ulster American Folk Park, an immersive, open-air living history museum just outside Omagh. Set in scenic countryside, it brings to life the journey of millions who left Ireland for North America in the 18th and 19th centuries. Begin in Rural Ulster, surrounded by the sights and sounds of everyday Irish life. Explore authentic thatched cottages, farmsteads and a lively street, where costumed guides demonstrate traditional crafts such as blacksmithing and open-hearth cooking. Visit the Mellon Homestead, birthplace of Thomas Mellon, founder of the Mellon banking dynasty; the park was developed around this original cottage. Next, board the replica Brig Union emigrant ship and experience the cramped conditions endured during the Atlantic crossing. Finally, arrive in America, where log cabins and frontier homes show how emigrants built new lives and helped shape the nation.
