Take a detour from the beaten path, to get in touch with a little known part of Sami history in quiet and beautiful surroundings. After an easy walk through the birch forest, we enter a small farm where a traditional lifestyle, closely connected to nature and its resources, prevailed until the 1960's.

Meeting and pickup
All travelleres are met at the small parking lot right next to the FV 232 road. There's a flagpole and sign marking the parking lot.

We meet at the parking lot, where snowshoes are adjusted to fit each participant. We then begin a short snowshoe hike through the beautiful birch forest. As we reach the settlement, your guide tells you about the history and the way of life of the Sami in these areas. Upon reaching the settlement, we will have a peek into the different buildings, and hear about the traditional use of local resources. We then enter the Goathi, to hear more about the last people who lived here, well past the mid 20th. century. We hear of their ways of life, and of their thoughts on living in harmony with nature, while a traditional hot stew – bidos - is being served. If conditions allow, we get to learn a little bit about starlore in Sami mythology, as we return to the parking lot through the forest.
