Three Day Kayak Camping Tour

2 days (approximately)
Offered in: English

Our most popular kayak camping trip in the whale waters of the San Juan Islands! Paddle three days through the prime wildlife zones along San Juan Island, where nearly all whale and wildlife sightings occur, with a professionally trained biologist/naturalist guide. We camp only on small remote islands with abundant eagles, seals and other wildlife, and our routes include visits to a National Monument, National Wildlife Refuge, and State & County Parks. Sea Quest uses only high-performance, well-maintained modern kayaks on multiday tours, and has the longest history of any company operating kayak tours in these waters.

What to expect

Spend three days sea kayaking and camping in the prime orca and wildlife waters of the San Juan Islands with a professionally trained biologist/naturalist guide. After meeting in Friday Harbor, we drive to the launch beach for an hour of basic skills and safety instruction, then paddle 4 to 6 hours (8 to 12 miles) each day past reefs, rocks and islets where eagles, seals, porpoises and whales are often seen. Nights are spent camping in marine parks on small remote islands, with breakfast and dinner cooked by your guide. Evenings may include a hike to a viewpoint, a sunset or moonlight paddle, or a search for bioluminescent plankton. On day 2 you may hike to a lighthouse with views of the Olympics, North Cascades and Coast Range. On day 3 we paddle back and return by van to Friday Harbor between 1:00 and 3:00pm. Beginner friendly; routes are chosen by the guide based on weather, currents and group ability.
