Experience Japanese culture through a private sushi-making and matcha experience near Sapporo.
In a relaxed Japanese home, make an adorable Shima-enaga sushi roll. This small white bird lives in Hokkaido and is affectionately known as the “snow fairy.” It is also very popular in Hokkaido, and you’ll find many cute Shima-enaga souvenirs in shops and at the airport. Why not make your own as sushi?
I will guide you step by step, so beginners and families are welcome.
Shima-enaga is the standard design. If you prefer, you may choose Mount Fuji or a flower instead. All guests in your group must choose the same design. Please let me know in advance.
After making sushi, whisk your own matcha using traditional tools and enjoy it with a seasonal Japanese dessert.
Limited to one private group per day, with a maximum of 4 guests.
Free pick-up and drop-off at Shin-Sapporo Subway Station is available for up to 4 guests.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
I will meet you near Exit 5 of Shin-Sapporo Subway Station. Please wait outside Exit 5. I will be waiting by my car, holding a green sign. From there, it's about a 10-minute drive to my home studio. The vehicle can accommodate up to 4 passengers.
What to expect
Create a colorful Mount Fuji sushi roll using naturally colored rice, then enjoy authentic matcha with seasonal Japanese sweets.
First, you will create a beautiful Mount Fuji sushi roll step by step using naturally colored rice and fresh ingredients.
This experience features the Mount Fuji sushi roll. If you would prefer to make a flower sushi roll instead, please let us know after your booking is confirmed. Please note that all participants in the same booking will make the same sushi roll design.
After making your sushi, enjoy a relaxing matcha experience with seasonal Japanese sweets.
This is more than a cooking class—it's a chance to experience Japanese culture in a warm and welcoming home.
The experience is conducted in English, and an English recipe is provided.
You'll also receive a bamboo sushi rolling mat to take home, so you can make sushi again after your trip.
Take photos with your handmade sushi in a traditional Japanese home setting.
