Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading west through the dramatic escarpments of the Great Rift Valley. Enjoy a brief stop at a scenic viewpoint before continuing past traditional Maasai homesteads and open countryside. Arrive at the legendary Maasai Mara in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. After a short rest, set out on your first game drive. The Mara’s rolling grasslands are teeming with wildlife—expect to encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, and possibly lions or cheetahs on the hunt. As the sun dips below the horizon, return to camp for dinner and your first night under the African sky.
Today is dedicated to exploring the vast ecosystem of the Maasai Mara. Depart after breakfast with packed lunch boxes for a full-day game drive, allowing you to venture deeper into remote areas of the reserve. Track the Big Five with your experienced guide and, if traveling between July and October, witness the awe-inspiring Great Migration as wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River. Break for a picnic lunch in the bush, surrounded by nature. You may also opt for an early morning hot air balloon safari (optional) for a breathtaking aerial view of the plains, followed by a champagne breakfast. Return to camp in the late afternoon for relaxation, dinner, and storytelling by the campfire.
After an early breakfast, enjoy a final short game drive as you exit the Mara. Journey north through the scenic highlands and rural towns toward Lake Nakuru, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, explore Lake Nakuru National Park, a compact but wildlife-rich park known for its alkaline lake that attracts flamingos and pelicans. The park is also a sanctuary for endangered white and black rhinos, and you may spot leopards resting in acacia trees. Enjoy views from Baboon Cliff before heading back to your lodge for dinner.
Depart after breakfast and drive back through Nairobi, continuing south toward Amboseli National Park. This is a longer travel day, but the changing scenery—from highlands to open plains—makes for an interesting journey. Arrive in Amboseli in the late afternoon. If the skies are clear, you’ll be greeted by the majestic silhouette of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. Enjoy a relaxed evening at your lodge as wildlife grazes nearby.
Spend a full day exploring Amboseli National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and postcard-perfect views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Start with an early morning game drive when wildlife is most active and the mountain is often clearest. Visit the Observation Hill for panoramic views of the park’s swamps and plains. Amboseli’s unique ecosystem supports a variety of animals including buffalo, lions, hyenas, and abundant birdlife. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation, followed by an afternoon game drive to capture more wildlife moments and stunning sunset photography.
After breakfast, depart Amboseli National Park and journey toward the scenic Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Arrive at the iconic Salt Lick Safari Lodge in time for lunch. Built on stilts overlooking a busy waterhole, the lodge offers a unique vantage point to watch elephants, buffalo, and other wildlife gather to drink throughout the day. Enjoy an afternoon game drive within the sanctuary, followed by dinner and overnight at the lodge, with the chance to spot animals right from your room or the viewing decks.
Tsavo East is known for its open plains, making wildlife easier to spot. Keep an eye out for the famous “red elephants,” colored by the park’s iron-rich soil. Visit landmarks such as the Galana River and Aruba Dam, where animals gather to drink. Enjoy an afternoon game drive before settling in for your final night in the wild.
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon. Reflect on the incredible diversity of landscapes and wildlife you’ve experienced—from the rolling plains of the Mara to the elephant-rich swamps of Amboseli and the wild expanses of Tsavo. Your safari ends with unforgettable memories of Kenya’s natural beauty and rich wildlife heritage.
