This 2-day trek offers one of the most rewarding ways to experience Gunung Leuser National Park, home to one of the last places on Earth where wild Sumatran orangutans roam freely.
Groups are kept small with a maximum of 6 travelers, ensuring a personal experience with minimal wildlife disturbance. Your journey is led by certified local guides, native to the community, with 5+ years of jungle experience and deep knowledge of the ecosystem, medicinal plants, and local traditions.
All National Park permits, camping equipment, fresh meals, drinking water, tropical fruits, and a river tubing ride back to the village are fully included. The highlight is spending a night at a riverside campsite deep in the jungle, waking up to the sounds of the rainforest.

What to expect
08:30 AM: Pickup from your hotel in Bukit Lawang village.
08:50 AM: Briefing on trekking program and safety guidelines at our meeting point before entering the jungle.
09:00 AM: Enter Gunung Leuser National Park and begin trekking. Search for wild Sumatran orangutans, Thomas's leaf monkeys, gibbons, and tropical birds. Your guide shares knowledge of the rainforest ecosystem, flora, and medicinal plants used by local communities for generations.
Midday: Refreshing break with fresh tropical fruits prepared by your guide deep in the jungle.
Continue trekking to your riverside campsite along the Bahorok River. Relax, take a swim, and soak in the peaceful rainforest atmosphere. In the evening, enjoy a delicious traditional jungle dinner prepared over an open fire. Overnight at the campsite under the jungle canopy.
Day 2: Morning Trek and River Tubing
Wake up to the sounds of the jungle and enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast. A short morning trek offers more chances to spot wildlife.
Late morning, begin an exciting river tubing adventure down the Bahorok River through stunning jungle scenery. Arrive back in Bukit Lawang around 01:00 to 02:00 PM.
