    The Memorial Archway is an iconic gateway to the Great Ocean Road, built to honour the three thousand returned World War One soldiers who constructed this magnificent two hundred forty three kilometre stretch of road between nineteen nineteen and nineteen thirty two. Originally made of timber and built in nineteen thirty nine, the arch was replaced with a steel and wood structure in nineteen seventy three.
