    Diaoyu Fortress sits on a steep cliff above the Jialing River near Chongqing. In 1259, Mongol Great Khan Möngke was killed here during a long siege. His death forced Mongol armies in Europe and the Middle East to turn back and fight for power. This small fortress in China unknowingly saved Europe from further Mongol invasion. In this tour, you can walk the old walls and enjoy great river views with all the stories being shared from the local expert. 7:30 Pick up 9:00 Arrive at Diaoyu Fortress， visit the castle, barracks ruins, and ancient military workshop ruins. 12:00 Lunch. 13:30 Visit the Tang Dynasty cliffcarved reclining Buddha (hanging on the cliff face); hike to the summit of Diaoyu Fortress to enjoy the panoramic view of the confluence of three rivers. 16:00 – 17:30 return to downtown Chongqing.
