We will meet at the main entrance of the Chen Clan Academy. If you are coming by Metro, take Line 1 to Chen Clan Academy Station and head out of Exit D. I will be waiting near the ticket office/main gate holding a like a small sign with 'Toxty' or your colorful longboard!

This is also where travelers will get a first overview of traditional Guangzhou life before we walk into the old town streets and local neighborhoods.
walking + local life + food introductionIn the Xiguan Old Street area, travelers will walk through one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Guangzhou. I will guide you through narrow lanes, historic Lingnan-style architecture, and everyday local life that still exists today. Along the way, we will explore small family-run food shops and street stalls where locals eat daily. You will learn about Cantonese food culture, how locals choose their meals, and the stories behind traditional snacks and ingredients. This stop focuses on slow walking, observation, and tasting authentic local life rather than tourist attractions.
Local street food area (Liwan / Xiguan food stalls) At this stop, travelers will experience real Guangzhou street food culture. I will introduce and help you order local dishes such as rice rolls (cheung fun), beef offal, traditional desserts, and handmade snacks depending on availability. I will explain what each dish is made of, how locals usually eat it, and how to enjoy it like a local without confusion. This is a hands-on tasting experience where travelers can try multiple small bites from different local vendors.
Yongqing Fang is a restored historical district that combines traditional Cantonese architecture with modern cultural spaces. I will guide travelers through preserved alleyways, old-style houses, and cultural shops while explaining the transformation of Guangzhou from old to modern city life. Travelers will have time to take photos, explore small exhibitions, and understand how local heritage is being preserved and adapted in contemporary Guangzhou.
