Carcassonne In the footsteps of cathars - Treasure hunt

1 hour 30 minutes (approximately)
Offered in: English and 1 more

The only riddle route located entirely inside the medieval city of Carcassonne — an immersive investigation into the alleys of the thirteenth century, far from the tourist trails.
An original story rooted in the true Cathar history of Carcassonne. Each stop reveals authentic elements: the fall of Montségur, the Inquisition, daily life in the city in the century of Saint Louis.
You play Beatriz, sister of Esclarmonde the Perfect Cathar. The story is lived in the first person, through childhood memories — an experience more intimate than a classic guided tour.
No app to download, no group, no fixed schedule. You start whenever you want, you go at your own pace, you take breaks whenever you want.

What to expect

March 1244. The fall of Montségur brought the last Perfect Cathars to the flames. In the City of Carcassonne, the Inquisition hunts down those who remain.
You are Beatriz, younger sister of Esclarmonde, a Perfect Cathar. Before fleeing the City, your sister sent you a letter — nine stops across town, nine childhood memories that only you can recognize. No one else can read what she left.
Every step of the way, Esclarmonde hid a number in the very stones: a detail she taught you to see, a sign she showed you as children, a number hidden in a place you two shared.
At the end of the road, in the Basilica of Saint Nazaire, lies a chest. The nine digits form the combination. Inside: one of the last Cathar gospels, the Liber, which Esclarmonde saved from the flames.
Start at Porte Narbonnaise. Every step of the way, read your sister’s words, observe what’s around you, and find your number. At the last stop, your nine digits will form the combination. You'll have three attempts.
