The RNPS is one of the largest Natural Protected Areas of Peru, with an area of 2,080,000 hectares. It protects the entire basin of the Pacaya and Samiria Rivers and is created with the aim of conserving the flora and fauna resources, as well as the scenic beauty characteristic of the Humid tropical forest.
YANAYACU RIVER BASIN – PUCATE.
It is the third most important part of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, flows into the Marañón River near the Santo Domingo village entrance checkpoint. The whole area of the basin is included in the ecological floor of the tropical moist forest. It is a river of sewage that runs approximately 180 kilometers within which are located more than 12 cars and 59 pipes (Riachuelos). The programs require you to sleep the first or last night in a tourist shelter in the small hamlet “Buenos Aires” and the nights in between in tents or mosquito nets.
We pick up all travelers from Iquitos Airport (upon arrival of your flight) or from your hotels located in the city center of Iquitos. Please provide us with your arrival or accommodation details at least 24 hours before the tour. Your guide or driver will carry a Peru Amazon Tours logo sign.
08.00 Departure for the city of Nauta via road 100 kilometers from Iquitos - Private car. Hike to know the city of Nauta, older than Iquitos,
Then we will board our typical boat called “pamacari” to navigate the Marañón River upstream, during the trip we will observe different riverside hamlets until arriving at the Yana yacu / Pucate River, observing gray dolphins and pink buffettoes, then control at the Santo Domingo Caserio Watch Post. We will sail to the Buenos Aires community where we will stay at the Tourist Refuge “Bromelias Tour Pacaya Samiria” to spend the night in cabins with mosquito nets and shared bathroom. Night trip to the wildlife of the area. Lunch / Dinner.
After breakfast we will leave upstream to make a stop in a jungle area and explore the area knowing part of the Flora & Fauna, being able to observe different types of birds and monkeys. In the afternoon fishing for Piranhas and other species by canoe. At night canoe trip or boat possibility to observe alligators and some other nocturnal species, arrow fishing. Overnight in the camp with Tents or Mosquito Nets. Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner.
Observation of birds in their habitat, also monkeys and other wild species in canoe. Lunch will be on board as we will be sailing into the jungle. Arrival in the native community called “Yarina” we will interact with its inhabitants and know their way of life - overnight at the home of the community. Night Walk observing the wildlife of the area. Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner.
Walk through primary forest to know and observe its great and varied biodiversity. Lunch we will start the return to the city of Nauta. Stop at the Santo Domingo Watch Post.
We will arrive in Nauta and board our private mobility to move to the city of Iquitos.
