Offered in: German and 7 more

Most visitors walk through St. Peter's Basilica without ever knowing what lies beneath. The tour takes you where most tourists never go, deep into the Vatican Grottoes and Papal Tombs, where centuries of history rest in silence beneath one of the world's greatest churches.
Your expert licensed local guide will bring every corner of the Basilica to life, from the breathtaking beauty of Michelangelo's Pietà to the ancient underground chambers where popes are laid to rest. These are stories you will not find in any guidebook.
The small group format means you are never just a face in a crowd. You get real answers, personal attention, and an experience that stays with you long after you leave Rome.
Entry to the Basilica requires a standard security check at St. Peter's Square, and your guide will be right beside you, making every moment count from the very first step.

    St. Peter's Basilica

Construction of the current basilica began in 1506 under Pope Julius II, replacing an older 4th-century church built by Emperor Constantine over the tomb of Saint Peter, one of Jesus's apostles and the first Pope. The project took over 120 years to complete and involved some of the greatest artists and architects of the era, including Bramante, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
