Kanda Shrine and a Local Ramen Walk in Tokyo

1 hour 30 minutes (approximately)
Offered in: Japanese and 1 more

Walk through Tokyo's beautiful morning streets, then reward yourself with a great bowl of ramen. I'm a Tokyo salaryman, and I'd love you to join my before-work morning walk.

I'll show you my favorite views in the city and a famous shrine I often visit. You'll learn a little of its history and how to pray, Japanese-style—and the lucky charms (omamori) here are famously cute, a perfect souvenir to take home.

Then my favorite part: ramen. I've eaten 100+ bowls every year for over eight years and spent five years working inside a ramen shop, and I run several ramen experiences in Tokyo. I'll happily share what I know—how broths, noodles, and styles differ—and take you to a shop that matches the flavor you love, from a clean, elegant bowl to a rich, hearty one.

My English isn't perfect, and I won't pretend to be a polished guide. Instead I'll give you something better: a genuine Tokyo morning most visitors never see. Come hungry and curious, and start your day like a real Tokyo local.

A famous local trainspotting spot where three train lines—the Chuo, Sobu, and Marunouchi lines—cross over the Kanda River. It's a perfect, very-Tokyo photo moment to start your morning. As your guide, I'll show you my favorite view in all of Tokyo.

    Kanda Shrine

Kanda Myojin is a famous shrine with over 1,300 years of history, worshipped by samurai in the Warring States era and by the people of old Edo. Every May it hosts one of Japan's three great festivals. Here you'll learn the etiquette of visiting a Japanese shrine, and you can pick up souvenirs such as omikuji paper fortunes.

We finish at a beloved local ramen shop famous for its elegant duck (kamo) broth—clean, refined, and just right for the morning. I'll help you use the ticket machine and order like a regular, and explain what makes different Japanese ramen styles unique while you enjoy your bowl.
