Arriving at an altitude of 568 metres, you escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The Heidelberger Hausberg offers breathtaking views over the Neckar valley, the Rhine plain and sometimes even up to the Vosges mountains in good weather.
The Heidelberg cable car is an attraction in itself. The upper, nostalgic track takes us to the whey cure in a slow, steep ride. From there, the lower cable car, one of the most modern funiculars in Germany, takes you to the castle in a few minutes.

The entrance to the cellar, which houses the legendary Great Barrel, is located in the Royal Hall building. This world's largest walk-in wine barrel was made from 130 oak logs in the 18th century and holds over 219,000 litres of wine.
