Lyon: culinary tour of local specialities and wine workshop

2 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English and 1 more

Unlike the classic guided tours of Lyon, this experience is animated by a real sommelier and remains on the authentic plateau of the Croix-Rousse, far from the tourist circuits. Here, there is no Guide who recites dates: you choose your own products from real artisans in the district, you taste the Lyon specialties explained one by one, and you finish with a real wine workshop where you learn to taste the wines of the Rhone Valley as a connoisseur.

What to expect

During this two-hour gourmet walk on the Plateau de la Croix-Rousse, your sommelier makes you live the neighborhood like a Lyonnais: we taste and learn, rather than doing tourism.

Go to the Gros Caillou for the panorama of the city, then cross the Place de la Croix-Rousse and Grande Rue, the old shopping street of the village. Along the way, your sommelier explains each Lyon specialty at the moment you taste it.

You choose your cold cuts at the Butchery, taste the famous pink praline at Maison Pralus and select cheeses at the Cheese Factory, moving away from the main street through the quiet streets of the plateau.

The experience ends at Cave Tabareau, on Place Tabareau, with a real wine workshop: you learn to look, smell and taste a selection of Rhone Valley wines and local wines, understand their terroir and pair them with your products. You will leave as a true Expert of the capital of gastronomy!
