A 3-day, 2-night Sahara Desert trip from Marrakech to the Erg Chebbi dunes (Merzouga) is one of Morocco's most popular and highly recommended adventures. It combines dramatic Atlas Mountain passes, ancient kasbahs, and a sunset camel trek to a desert camp under the stars.
You’ll depart early in the morning and cross the High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n'Tichka pass. You'll stop at the famous UNESCO World Heritage site, Aït Benhaddou (a backdrop for many famous films), before continuing through the "Hollywood of Morocco" (Ouarzazate) and the picturesque Valley of Roses to spend the night in a Hotel / Riad or Guesthouse in the Dades Valley.
You'll travel through the stunning Todra Gorge and its massive 300-meter-high canyon walls. In the afternoon, you will arrive at the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Here, you'll swap your vehicle for a camel and ride across the dunes to your desert camp in time for the sunset. You'll spend the night in a traditional Berber tent, complete with dinner and music around a campfire.
Wake up early to catch an unforgettable sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you'll ride the camels back to the base and begin the long, scenic drive back to Marrakech via Alnif, Draa Valley, Agdz and High Atlas, arriving in the evening... End of the Trip.
