Paraiso Dive is locally owned and operated by Jota — a Cartagena native, born and raised on these islands, and a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. Every member of the Paraiso team is local to Cartagena. When you dive with us your money stays in the community and supports the people who know and love this reef better than anyone.
We are conveniently accessible whether you are staying in Cartagena city or already at Blue Apple Beach Club on Isla Tierra Bomba — just let us know your situation when you book and we will coordinate everything around you.
We also actively give back to the reef and the community. Paraiso funds 100% of PADI scuba certification training for youth from Isla Tierra Bomba, giving local young people access to their own reef for the first time. We also conduct active lion fish removal dives to protect the ecosystem. When you book with us you are supporting a business that genuinely cares about Cartagena, its people, and its ocean.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
Please arrive before the 7:45am departure time. There is a small port tax fee to pay upon entry. We will provide pictures of the boat and details for the meeting point when we confirm the trip!
What to expect
Your day starts with a short theory session on land covering the basics of diving, equipment, safety, and signals. From there you'll move into a confined water session in shallow, calm water to get comfortable with the gear and practice essential skills before heading into the open ocean. Then it's time to dive — two dives at two different sites, going up to 12 meters deep in warm, clear Caribbean water.
After diving you'll have the rest of the afternoon at Blue Apple Beach Club — one of Cartagena's most beautiful beachfront resorts — included in your experience. Enjoy the beach, pool, and resort facilities before the boat takes you back to Cartagena in the afternoon.
No experience needed. No certification required. A professional PADI instructor is by your side the entire time at a ratio of 1 instructor per 2 participants. We take a maximum of 6 divers per day trip — this is a genuinely personalized boutique experience, not a large group tour.
