This 14 Days Trek End at Thamel hotel were you staying last time
Start your adventure in the heart of Nepal's tourism hub. Travelers will explore the winding, colorful alleys of Thamel, a vibrant marketplace perfect for last-minute trekking gear shopping. You'll visit traditional tea shops, see local handicrafts, and meet your guide for a pre-trip briefing. It’s the perfect place to soak in the local atmosphere and enjoy a traditional "Dal Bhat" dinner before heading to the mountains.
Experience one of the most famous flights in the world. Travelers will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, landing on a dramatic hillside runway surrounded by high peaks. After landing, you will meet your trekking crew, organize gear, and begin the first leg of the journey. The trail descends through beautiful farmland and small Sherpa villages, offering a gentle introduction to the Khumbu region.
Travelers will experience the thrill of crossing the highest suspension bridge in the region. Suspended high above the Dudh Koshi River and draped in colorful prayer flags, this bridge offers a perfect photo opportunity before the steep ascent. Shortly after, you will enter the Sagarmatha National Park at Manjo and catch your very first glimpse of Mount Everest through the pine trees.
To help your body adjust to the high altitude, we follow the "climb high, sleep low" principle. We will take a scenic uphill hike to the famous Everest View Hotel (3,880m). From the balcony, travelers will enjoy a stunning 360-degree panorama of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. On the way back, we visit the Khumjung village and the local monastery to see the "Yeti Scalp." The afternoon is free to enjoy the cafes and bakeries of Namche Bazaar.
Travelers will trek through lush rhododendron forests and cross the Dudh Koshi River before a steady climb to the Tengboche Monastery. This is the largest and most famous Buddhist monastery in the region, set against the backdrop of the spectacular Ama Dablam peak. You will have the opportunity to observe the monks during their afternoon prayer ceremony and receive a blessing for a safe journey to Base Camp.
As you trek toward the "summer settlement" of Dingboche, the landscape opens up into a wide, sun-drenched valley. Travelers will see the impressive Ama Dablam peak from a new angle and witness the unique stone-walled fields used by locals to protect barley and potato crops from the high-altitude winds. The village offers a spectacular view of the Island Peak and the massive south face of Lhotse.
Embark on a steady acclimatization hike to the summit of Nangkartshang Peak (5,083m). This vantage point offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the Khumbu region. Travelers will witness a 360-degree vista including the world’s fourth-highest peak, Lhotse, as well as Makalu, Cho Oyu, and the stunningly jagged Ama Dablam. Your guide will explain the surrounding geography and ensure a comfortable pace to help your body adjust to the high altitude before continuing toward Everest Base Camp.
Today’s trek takes us out of the wide valley of Dingboche and upwards toward Lobuche. The trail climbs steadily to Thukla (Dughla), where we will stop for a short break before tackling the steep ascent to Thukla Pass. At the top of the pass, you will find a poignant area filled with stone memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. From here, the terrain levels out slightly as we walk alongside the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, offering a dramatic landscape of rock and ice before we reach the small settlement of Lobuche.
The day you've been waiting for! We start early from Lobuche, trekking through rocky moraine and glacial debris toward Gorak Shep, the highest permanent settlement in the region. After a quick lunch and dropping our heavy bags, we push forward to Everest Base Camp. You will walk across the Khumbu Glacier, surrounded by towering peaks and the famous Khumbu Icefall. After celebrating your arrival and taking photos at the iconic rock marker, we trek back to Gorak Shep for a well-deserved rest.
We start before dawn with a challenging climb to the summit of Kala Patthar. This is widely considered the best viewpoint in the world to see Mt. Everest, as Base Camp itself is tucked behind other peaks. Watching the sunrise hit the summit of Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse is a life-changing experience. After descending back to Gorak Shep for breakfast, we begin our journey down. The air gets thicker and easier to breathe as we descend through the valley to the village of Pheriche.
Today is a long but rewarding day of trekking as we descend nearly 1,000 meters. Leaving Pheriche, we cross the bridge over the Imja Khola and pass through the rhododendron forests of Deboche before reaching Tengboche. After a brief stop to revisit the famous monastery or enjoy a final high-altitude coffee, we make a steep descent to Phunki Tenga. A final climb takes us back around the hillsides to Namche Bazaar. After days in the high wilderness, the hot showers, bakeries, and vibrant markets of Namche are a welcome sight.
Our final day on the trail is a long one, but the increased oxygen levels make for an energetic trek. We descend the steep trail from Namche Bazaar back down to the Hillary Suspension Bridge and continue through the lush forest. We pass through the familiar villages of Phakding and Ghat, crossing the Dudh Koshi River multiple times. The final stretch involves a gradual uphill climb into Lukla. Tonight, we celebrate the completion of an incredible journey with the entire trekking crew before our flight back to Kathmandu tomorrow.
We take an early morning flight from Lukla, enjoying one last aerial view of the majestic Himalayas. After the 35-minute flight, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Kathmandu. The rest of the day is yours to relax, enjoy a hot bath, or do some last-minute souvenir shopping in Thamel. In the evening, we will gather for a farewell dinner to share memories of our successful Everest Base Camp expedition.
