Discover the exciting evolution of New York on this walking tour of Lower Manhattan. We will begin our tour at the historic Battery Park. As we stroll through its beautiful oceanfront gardens, we will enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
The guide will unravel the story of how this corner of the city went from being a colonial wall to becoming the epicenter of the global economy.
We will stop at the famous Charging Bull, the imposing bronze sculpture that has become the international symbol of New York’s financial optimism and strength.
We will visit the outside of Ground Zero and the National September 11 Memorial. We will walk around the two imposing reflective fountains built where the Twin Towers were to pay tribute and contemplate the design of the monument. NOTE: This tour includes the guided explanation on the outdoor monuments; it does NOT include entrance to the interior of the Museum of 9/11 or time to visit inside during the tour.
We will contemplate the spectacular structure of The Oculus, designed by the celebrated architect Santiago Calatrava. This monumental piece of modern art, whose white lines simulate the wings of a bird taking flight, functions as the main transport interchange at Ground Zero
We will move back to the past when visiting Stone Street, one of New York’s oldest streets that still retains its original Dutch colonial-era stone pavement (New Amsterdam).
We will finish the tour in the historic South Street Seaport district and the renovated Pier 17. This place was the former epicenter of maritime trade in New York in the 19th century.
