What to expect

During this experience, guests will paint their own 12 cm standard-size Japanese Daruma while making a personal wish. Participants can freely customize the Daruma with colors, designs, and messages to create a one-of-a-kind souvenir from Japan.

Participants will receive a Daruma doll, paints, brushes, and all painting materials needed for the experience. This is a self-guided painting experience with staff assistance and instruction available throughout the activity.

The larger Daruma size allows for more detailed painting and makes it perfect for displaying at home as a symbol of good luck, personal goals, and memories from Mt. Fuji. Guests can also learn about the Japanese tradition of Daruma and the meaning behind painting the Daruma’s eyes while making a wish.

A mini tatami mat for displaying the Daruma and a take-home gift box are included, making it easy to carry and enjoy your handmade Daruma after your trip.

After the experience, guests can take memorable photos near Mt. Fuji and Chureito Pagoda with their handmade Daruma. Participants will spend approximately 30 minutes in the workshop area.
