Seasonal Wagashi Making and Tea Ceremony Experience with English Support at a Historic Teahouse in Tokyo National Museum

Located in the lush greenery of Ueno, Tokyo, the Tokyo National Museum boasts the longest history of any museum in Japan. It holds a breathtaking collection of approximately 120,000 items, including numerous National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties.

Your experience takes place in the Kujo-kan, an exclusive, historic teahouse surrounded by the museum's beautiful garden, which is normally closed to the public. At the start of the experience, you will enjoy a short guided tour to explore Kujo-kan .

In this special program, you will craft a traditional Japanese confectionery known as Nerikiri, learn the fundamentals of tea ceremony etiquette, and whisk your own bowl of matcha to enjoy alongside your handmade sweet. An English interpreter will be present throughout the lesson, so you can join with total peace of mind even if you don't speak Japanese. For those who find seiza (traditional Japanese sitting) uncomfortable, chair seating is also available.
