Here you will meet your photographer and guide Lucho, and Lucho will meet the participants and the Tour. A historical overview of Lisbon and this square will be made, in honor of this Portuguese viceroy, here we begin the photo session.
Here we show the importance of the National Palace of Belém, official residence of the President of the Republic of Portugal, you will understand the political and symbolic relevance that this area has maintained over the centuries.
There you will learn about the Age of Discovery and the role of Portuguese navigators in the expansion of the known world. Its location in front of the Tagus River also offers one of the most representative views of all Lisbon.
You will know the Tower of Belém, built in the 16th century, connects us with the defensive and maritime past of the city. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983, it is one of Lisbon’s most recognizable symbols and one of the jewels of Portuguese heritage.
We will pass through the Plaza del Imperio, a large monumental space conceived as a tribute to maritime expansion and the former Portuguese Empire. Its design and location, opposite the Jerónimos Monastery, evoke the time when Portugal projected its influence to different continents.
We culminate in the Monastery of the Jeromes, a masterpiece of the Manueline style developed during the reign of Manuel I, at the height of the Age of Discovery. This monumental complex represents one of the greatest exponents of Portuguese architecture and European heritage.
