Meet at the Log Pavilion (14 Myakka State Park Rd, Sarasota, FL 34241). After you pay the park entrance fee at the ranger station, turn left after the first speed bump, and park in the small lot behind the large granite boulder. The Palmetto log cabin is across the street.
Tours end at the trailhead of the final destination; typically Fox High or Ranch House Road, or along the banks of the Big Lake. Please plan for 15-25 minute drive back to the main park gate on Route 72. (Note: North Entrance on Clay Gully Rd is open on the weekends and will take you to Fruitville).

Explore the quieter side of Myakka River State Park with a guided walk along scenic backcountry trails such as Ranch House Road, Fox Low and Fox High, and Clay Gully. These lesser-traveled paths wind through diverse landscapes, from open prairies to shaded oak hammocks, offering a more immersive experience of Florida’s wild terrain. As you follow these peaceful trails, take in the park’s natural beauty and watch for native wildlife in their undisturbed habitat. This off-the-beaten-path walk is perfect for travelers seeking a deeper connection with nature and a more secluded park experience.
