This trek has been designed by the team behind the Transcaucasian Trail, the long-distance hiking route connecting communities across the Caucasus. Rather than following a standard tourist itinerary, the route links remote mountain villages, traditional guesthouses, and some of the most spectacular landscapes in Azerbaijan's Greater Caucasus Mountains.

Travelers benefit from detailed route planning, local logistical coordination, accommodation and transport arrangements, GPS navigation resources, and direct connections with local service providers.     Day 1

    Arrival in Khinalig

    Arrive in Khinalig, one of the highest and most remote villages in the Caucasus Mountains. Meet your hosts, settle into your guesthouse, review the route materials, and prepare for the trek ahead. Enjoy panoramic mountain views and explore the village before your first hiking day.

    Khinalig to Griz Trek

  • Khinaliq (Pass by)

    Begin the trek across dramatic mountain ridgelines, high pastures, and deep river canyons. Pass through Galaykhudat and enjoy views of Kokosh Gorge and the hidden Gurgur Waterfall before reaching the remote village of Griz.

    Griz to Aniq Trek

  • Qrız (Pass by)

    Climb above Griz and descend through alpine meadows, forests, and pastureland. Enjoy views toward the Shahdag massif before arriving in Aniq, one of the largest villages in the Gusarchay Valley.

    Aniq to Laza Trek

    Follow mountain trails through agricultural landscapes and traditional villages before entering the Shahdag Mountain Resort area. Continue through dramatic mountain scenery to Laza, famous for its waterfalls and spectacular setting beneath towering cliffs.

    Laza to Yergi Kek Trek

    Descend toward Kuzun before climbing into open alpine meadows and highland pasturelands. Reach Yergi Kek, one of Azerbaijan's highest permanently inhabited villages, surrounded by panoramic mountain scenery.

    Yergi Kek to Gukhur Trek

    Follow old mountain tracks through the remote settlements of Takar and Sudur. The route crosses rolling highland terrain beneath the Shahdag massif before reaching Gukhur, perched above the canyon leading toward the Samur River.

    Return to Baku

    After breakfast, depart Gukhur and travel back to Baku. The journey offers a final opportunity to enjoy the landscapes of the Greater Caucasus before the end of the experience.
