Kyoto Zen and Tea Experience in a Hidden Temple Guided by a Monk

2 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English

Discover a quieter side of Kyoto with a rare Zen meditation experience at Jusho-in, a hidden sub-temple inside the historic Myoshinji Temple complex. Guided directly by the 16th-generation abbot, Eitetsu Nishida, you will learn the basics of zazen, from posture and breathing to the simple practice of calming the mind.

Away from the busy tourist crowds, this small-group experience invites you into the peaceful atmosphere of a living Zen temple, surrounded by a seasonal Japanese garden. After two meditation sessions, enjoy Kyoto matcha and traditional sweets while absorbing the quiet afterglow of the practice.

A professional photographer will capture natural moments throughout the experience, so you can stay present and receive beautiful photos as a lasting memory of your time in Kyoto.
