The Newport Harbor Lighthouse (often called the Goat Island Light) is a 35-foot granite tower on the northern tip of Goat Island in Newport, RI. Built in 1842, it is an active aid to navigation that flashes a distinct fixed green light. In July 1723, Newport held the largest mass execution in colonial history at this site. Twenty-five pirates were hanged between high and low tide.

Originally founded in 1834 by Silas H. Cottrell, the historic site built the first U.S. lightship in 1853. Saved from condominium development and bankruptcy in 1998 by local sailor Charlie Dana, it now operates as a world-class yachting hub.

The Ida Lewis Yacht Club in Newport, Rhode Island, is an exclusive sailing club operating out of the historic Lime Rock Lighthouse. Founded in 1928, the club was named after the legendary lighthouse keeper and lifesaver, Ida Lewis, who officially rescued 18 people during her 42-year career at the station.
