Kay is a Galway native, passionate about the history of Galway City. She enjoys sharing her love of the city with groups, bringing them along the historical streets and sites.

The walking tour starts in the centre of Galway's Eyre Square and continues along the lively city streets, stopping off to gain insight into the cultural and historical significance of some key sites, and concludes at the iconic Spanish Arch. The short 90 minutes tour gives an overview of the city and highlights areas that are worth revisiting at a later stage.

We meet tourists in the middle of the main square called Eyre Square, where there is a bronze statue of a writer called Padraig O Conaire and there is a panel of information in front of the statue. I will forward you a photo of same in the next email. I don't meet the tourists in their hotels.

    A 17th century limestone feature in Galway's Eyre Square. This walking tour will give the history of this feature

    Following a walk of Galway's Shop street, we stop at Lynch's Castle, a 16th Century Urban Tower House that is in continuing commercial use

    We see the the home of James Joyce's wife, Nora Barnacle. The home contains a museum that attendees may wish to visit at a later stage as it cannot accommodate group entry. Entrance fee is a dontation

    Saint Nicholas' Collegiate Church

    14th Century collegiate church where Christopher Columbas is reputed to have prayed before he set sail to discover the new lands. Stop outside to give an overview of the history.
