Join The Bergen Historian on a walk through old Bergen on a 90-minute journey through the city’s hidden histories of love, scandal, and rule-breaking. The tour begins the Rosenkrantz Tower and ends at the Old Bergen Town Hall, passing St. Mary`s Church, Bryggen, and the Cathedral along the way.
Along the route, you’ll hear stories of sexual morality and its frequent violations, a Church that preached strict ideals while often struggling to live up to them, violence and conflict in a society with limited formal control, alcohol-fuelled disputes, and the everyday choices that shaped life, reputation, and survival in the city.
This is a vivid storytelling experience where history comes alive through real people and real tensions—where the lines between law, morality, and human behaviour were constantly crossed.
The tour is led by a trained historian with academic background and museum experience, known for engaging, energetic storytelling and a strong passion for Bergen’s past.
