Though Piula Cave Pool sits just meters from the ocean, the water inside is fresh, cool, and incredibly clear. Carved into volcanic rock at the grounds of Piula Theological College in Lufilufi, this natural swimming hole is one of Samoa’s most loved spots. Tourists and locals alike dive into the shaded cave section or float in the sunlit open area, where you can see every stone on the pool floor.
Hidden in the lush rainforest above Lotofaga village, Sopoaga Waterfall is one of Upolu’s most scenic spots. The waterfall drops over 30 meters into a deep, cool pool surrounded by tropical ferns and towering trees. A short jungles walk takes you to the viewing deck, where the sound of falling water and fresh mountain air make it feel like another world. It’s a peaceful stop that’s loved by both tourists and locals looking to cool off and take photo.
To-Sua literally means giant swimming hole, and it lives up to the name. This 30 metre deep volcanic crater is filled with clear blue seawater and accessed by a steep ladder down to a wooden platform for easy entry. At the bottom, you’re swimming in a natural ocean pool that connects to the open sea through an underwater cave. It’s recommended for confident swimmers and skill divers. The trench is set inside lust tropical gardens with cliff-top views over the ocean. A spectacular spot for photos and quite moments away from the crowds.
Lalomanu Beach is a beautiful stretch of white sand and crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming and relaxing. With Nu’utele Island on the horizon, it’s one of Samoa’s most photographed beaches. It’s also the perfect lunch stop. Guests can grab fresh local food and an ice-cold Samoa beer from the beachside fales at their own cost, then kick back under the palms and enjoy the view.
