What to expect

Departing from Punta Arenas, we sail through the legendary Strait of Magellan, enjoying views of coastal landscapes, fishermen’s coves, and even a glimpse of Tierra del Fuego. Along the way, keep an eye out for seabirds and, with some luck, southern dolphins.

After approximately two hours of navigation, we arrive at the Los Pingüinos Natural Monument, home to a colony of more than 120,000 Magellanic penguins, as well as sea lions and other native wildlife.

Explore the island along marked trails leading from the shoreline to its highest point. Observe the penguins up close as they nest and interact in their natural habitat during their breeding and molting season.

At the summit, visit the Environmental Interpretation Center and lighthouse. A short climb rewards visitors with panoramic views of Isla Magdalena and the surrounding waters, offering excellent photo opportunities and a chance to appreciate the beauty of Patagonia.

This excursion operates from October through March, when the penguin colony is present on the island. Departures are subject to weather and sea conditions and may be cancelled if conditions are not suitable for navigation.
