Discover a unique cultural experience in Guatemala that combines spirituality, history and tradition.
This private tour will take you from Antigua Guatemala to San Andrés Itzapa to visit the San Simon Shrine, also known as Maximón or Rilaj Mam, one of the most representative figures of Guatemalan religious syncretism. During the visit you will be able to observe, with respect, the ceremonies performed by Mayan spiritual guides and learn more about their beliefs and rituals.
Then we will visit the house of Ana, a fourth generation merchant dedicated to the sale of cusha, an artisanal liquor made from sugar cane. There you will learn about the history of this traditional drink and its cultural importance. The visit takes place in a family home, not in a distillery or factory.
The experience ends with an optional lunch in Parramos, before returning to Antigua Guatemala.

Meeting and pickup
Pick-up will take place in Antigua Guatemala’s Central Park, opposite the main entrance to the Cathedral of San José. A representative of Jaguar Negro Travel will receive the passengers at the meeting point and accompany them to the vehicle assigned for the tour.

San Andrés Itzapa is a picturesque highland town in Guatemala, surrounded by mountains and traditions that have endured for generations. Its streets retain the essence of Guatemalan daily life, where the colorful local market, quiet central park and Catholic church are the heart of the community. This town is recognized throughout the country for housing the shrine of **San Simón**, also known as **Maximón** or **Rilaj Mam**, one of the most representative figures of Guatemalan religious syncretism. Every day it receives visitors, pilgrims and Mayan spiritual guides who keep ancient ceremonies and traditions alive. San Andrés Itzapa also holds another of its greatest cultural treasures: the cusha, an artisanal liqueur made from sugar cane whose recipe and production methods have been discreetly passed down among local families for generations.
