Immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Carioca Carnival with class of Brazilian percussion. In a studio that is the heart of several blocks of the city, choose from six instruments and learn from experienced percussionists about the history and execution of unique rhythms. No matter if you’re a Novice or already playing, the experience is inclusive and engaging. After the class, run on a samba wheel or watch a forró or jazz show - preferably outdoors - where the professional musicians bring to life everything you've learned. The evening ends with a toast of caipirinha, celebrating the Brazilian culture in great style.

What to expect

Visitors will take a short walk from Largo do Machado to the studio, learning more about the history of the Flamengo and Laranjeiras neighborhoods. Arriving there, you will know a space that became the seat of several carnival blocks in the city. Let’s talk about some of the more touched rhythms, such as Ijexá, Forró, Samba-Reggae, Coco and, of course, Samba. Travellers will learn more about six of the most blocked percussion instruments and choose one to learn. We will play together various rhythms in a light and fun teaching dynamic. After the class, we will go to a local samba or forró and jazz show, preferably outdoors. There, guests will see in practice the rhythms they learned being performed by professional musicians. We'll finish the night with a special caipirinha.
