    I Sassi di Matera

    Start the tour with a relaxed e-bike ride through the streets and alleys of the Sassi of Matera. Cycle through the historic center, admire the unique stone architecture and stop at scenic spots for photos. This is not a guided visit of the Sassi, but an enjoyable panoramic ride before leaving the city and heading into the countryside.

    Matera

    Leave the historic center behind and ride into the open countryside surrounding Matera. Follow quiet secondary roads and easy country tracks through the rural landscape around Serra d’Alto and Pedale della Palomba, with rolling fields, wide views and very little traffic. This is the most peaceful part of the ride, showing a completely different side of Matera away from the busy historic center.

    Climb gradually towards Murgecchia and reach a spectacular panoramic spot above the Gravina. From the edge of the plateau, look across the canyon towards the Sassi of Matera and enjoy one of the most impressive views of the city. Stop here for photos and a traditional focaccia snack while taking in the panorama before riding back to the starting point.
