Arrive in Ulaangom, the provincial capital of Uvs. Meet your expedition guides, do a final gear check, and transfer by 4x4 vehicle into the foothills of the Kharkhoiraa range. Trek toward the glaciated slopes of this dramatic snow-capped massif, with panoramic views across the Altai foothills. Overnight in traditional ger camp. watch the Mongolian traditional dancers show.
Descend toward the Goojuur river canyon to reach the thundering Goojuur waterfall, framed by red-rock cliffs and turquoise plunge pools — a highlight photo stop of the expedition. Afternoon exploring the surrounding canyon trails. Overnight camp near the falls. Visit Uvs Nuur, Mongolia's largest lake and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the terminal lake of Central Asia's largest closed drainage basin. Lakeshore exploration and birdwatching, including resident swans. Evening cultural performance with traditional dance and music by local youth.
Arrive at Altan Els ("Golden Sand"), a striking dune field rising from the steppe. Climb the tallest dune for sweeping views over the golden sands meeting green grassland. Camp among the dunes under some of the clearest night skies in Asia. Ride a camel
A final hands-on morning with a nomadic herder family: help put up a traditional ger, milk goats, prepare tsagaan idee (dairy foods), and watch a saddle crafted by hand — skills passed down through generations of Uvs herders. Transfer back to Ulaangom in the afternoon for departure.
