Our journey begins at the iconic Banaras Ghats, where you’ll walk along the sacred Ganges and learn about the rich history, culture, and spiritual significance of the city. As we explore, I’ll share fascinating stories about the ghats, temples, traditions, and the people who have made Banaras what it is today. We’ll then take a traditional boat ride on the holy Ganges, offering a unique perspective of the magnificent ghats from the river. As the boat gently moves along the water, you’ll experience the beauty, spirituality, and timeless atmosphere of Banaras while learning about the history and significance of the landmarks along the riverfront.
Next, we’ll visit two of Banaras’s revered Hindu temples and experience the city’s deep spiritual heritage. Our first stop will be Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and a central part of Banaras’s religious identity. We’ll then visit Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, a deeply revered ancient temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Here, you’ll learn about its history, traditions, and significance to the people of Banaras. Together, these visits offer a deeper understanding of Banaras as a city where history, spirituality, and everyday life have been intertwined for centuries.
After exploring the ghats and the Ganges, we’ll step into the narrow, vibrant streets of old Banaras and experience the city beyond its famous landmarks. We’ll wander through the historic lanes, discover hidden corners, observe everyday local life, and hear the stories that make Banaras truly unique. Along the way, we’ll stop to taste authentic Banarasi food and local delicacies, experiencing the flavors that are an essential part of the city’s culture. From traditional snacks and sweets to local favorites, this part of the journey is all about walking, tasting, discovering, and experiencing Banaras like a local.
