It was named one of National Geographic's "20 cultural hotspots to visit in 2024

    Chinggis Khaan Statue And Gorkhi Terelj

    The Genghis Khan Statue Complex is a monumental tribute to Mongolia's national hero, located about 54 km (34 miles) east of Ulaanbaatar near the Tuul River at Tsonjin Boldog. The location is historically significant; legend says Genghis Khan found a golden whip here, which was seen as a sign of good fortune . The statue's base is a 10-meter-tall visitor center supported by 36 columns, each representing a Khan from Genghis to Ligdan Khan

    We are visiting Turtle rock, the rock was once known as Mungut Khad (Money Rock). According to legend, the Oirad Khan Galdanboshigt hid his gold and silver treasure at this spot after a battle with Manchu soldiers. It's said that he left his Manchurian consort behind to guard the treasure, and she turned into a nearby mountain
