What to expect

Learn the art of Japanese temari embroidery in a small-group workshop in Tokyo. Embroider a small silk temari with one of the traditional patterns and take home a finished necklace or a bag charm.

Begin by choosing a temari base color and threads you like. Learn how to work with silk threads and follow the demonstration and the step-by-step printed instructions. Finish your work by arranging temari as a necklace or bag charm. Try your hand at wrapping a small temari base yourself.

About Schedule: Please refer to the calendar image, as different patterns are available on different days. Each workshop focuses on one pattern at a time.

About the Instructor: I am a certified temari master (shihan) with the Japan Temari Association. After moving from New York to Tokyo, I fell in love with temari and have dedicated the past 18 years to perfecting my skills. In 2022, I founded my temari jewelry brand, Miwa Temari. Whether you are a craft enthusiast or a curious traveler, I offer professional, bilingual introductions to one of Japan's most beautiful fiber art traditions.
