Upon arrival, you will have a short break before entering the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum.
You will receive your entrance ticket, pass through the security check, collect your headset, and meet your English-speaking museum guide. Begin the guided tour by walking through the historic gate bearing the inscription “Arbeit Macht Frei.” Explore the grounds of Auschwitz I and learn about the history of the camp, which was established by Nazi Germany in 1940. During the visit, enter several original prisoner blocks that now house historical exhibitions, documents and personal belongings of victims. You will also see preserved parts of the camp, including the original fences, watchtowers and the Death Wall. Throughout the visit, your museum guide will provide historical context and explain the experiences of those who were imprisoned at Auschwitz.
After visiting Auschwitz I, continue to Auschwitz II-Birkenau, located approximately 3 km away. This was the largest camp within the Auschwitz complex and became the main site of mass extermination. Continue your guided tour with your museum guide and explore the vast grounds of Birkenau. See the original railway ramp where deportees arrived, preserved prisoner barracks, the remains of the gas chambers and crematoria, and other important parts of the former camp. Your guide will explain the living conditions prisoners faced, the selection process that took place after arrival, and the history of Birkenau during World War II.
After visiting Birkenau, you will have some free time to take a break, use the restroom, or visit the bookstore. Then, meet your driver and relax on the journey back to Krakow. You will be dropped off at your selected location.
