Meeting point

We meet just outside the entrance to St James's Park tube station (District & Circle lines), directly below 55 Broadway, which is also the headquarters of the London Underground. If it's raining, we meet inside under the Broadway Shopping Mall sign to be precise.

Horse Guards Parade

Our tour ends at Horse Guards Parade situated at the start of The Mall near to Trafalgar Square.

Itinerary

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes (approximately)
  • Tate Britain (Pass by)

    Visitors will examine the exterior of the gallery building with particular focus on the World War Two shrapnel damage still visible.

    Smith Square Hall

    Vistors will learn about the attack on the church in 1941 while standing outside. Inside, there is an opportunity to inspect exhibits relating to this World War Two incident.

  • Westminster Abbey (Pass by)

    En route towards the Cenotaph, the group stops outside Westminster Abbey, where they will hear about the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, which is inside in the nave. The tour does not include entry to the Abbey.

    Cenotaph

    Visitors will inspect the national memorial to the war dead and hear about its design and construction as well as its role in the annual Remebrance Day parade.

  • Churchill War Rooms (Pass by)

    Although the group will not be entering the attraction, we stop briefly to learn about this important wartime site once occupied by Winston Churchill's cabinet.
