Day 1
DAY 1 — Arrival in Tromsø, embarkation and first sail

Tromsø → the orca grounds · 50–70 nm (7–9 h) Your group lands in Tromsø and is met for a private transfer to the dock. Settle into cabins, meet your two expedition guides, run the safety briefing and eat lunch aboard. Before departure everyone does an orientation dive in full drysuit gear — so every guest is fitted, familiar and confident well before any wildlife encounter. Then the catamaran slips her lines and the last cobalt light drains off the horizon as we transit into the prime orca feeding grounds. First night aboard, first taste of the dark.
Day 2
DAY 2 — Into the herring grounds: first orca encounters

The herring grounds · Local movement The first of three full days dedicated to the headline act. Your guides work the coastal islands and herring runs — where the herring go, the orcas follow, gathering in numbers to hunt. Whenever the crew judge conditions safe and ethical, guests pull on drysuits and slip into the 2–4°C water alongside wild orcas mid-hunt: humbling and electric in roughly equal measure. Snorkeling only, surface-based and fully guided. Humpbacks are likely gatecrashers; seals and eagles throughout. The onboard sauna is running through the evening, with cold plunges off the boat for anyone who wants them. Every clear night is an aurora night, with guide-supported photography and thermos rounds on deck.
Day 3
DAY 3 — A second full day with the whales

The herring grounds · Local movement More time on the water, on the animals' terms. We never chase and never crowd — the boat positions strategically and lets the orcas decide, which is exactly what makes the encounters extraordinary. With three days in the grounds, no single weather day can cost your group the experience. Between water sessions: drysuit drying, pre-warmed cabins, sauna heat and hot drinks. Evening debriefs and photo sharing over dinner, with the aurora on standby.
Day 4
DAY 4 — Orcas, or your own pace

The herring grounds · Local movement By day four the group has found its rhythm. Stay in the water with the orcas, or pivot: drop a line and catch your own dinner (the week's own catch takes the place of honour at the table), push deeper into a quiet fjord, or take the day slow aboard. The onboard sauna is going again today — sauna rounds and cold plunges straight off the transom make a full day of their own for anyone who has had their fill of fins and flukes. Because the boat is yours alone, the call is your group's to make each morning with the guides. Deck viewing during encounters is a first-class experience here, never a consolation. We have dedicated 3 full days to orcan encounters in order to ensure we can do it completely stress free. Our highest concern is to respect the animals, and to have as low an impact on them and their environments as possible. Having this extra time in the whale grounds gives us this opportunity.
Day 5
DAY 5 — A night ashore under the polar sky

The Lyngen Alps (Pass by)
A remote beach · 25–40 nm (4–5 h) The trip's wildest night. A 12-person teepee goes up on a scouted remote beach with a wood-burning stove, reindeer skins and four-season sleep systems. A bonfire burns all evening while reindeer stew is ladled out and the portable sauna runs hot, with cold plunges in the frigid ocean between rounds. Conditions permitting, there are snow caves you help dig and can sleep in. Teepee, snow cave, or back to your cabin on the yacht — the choice is yours, and the vessel stays anchored close by with crew on watch overnight.
Day 6
DAY 6 — Snowshoes, sauna and slow hours

Local movement A gentler day to let the week settle. An optional snowshoe hike across the white silence, with distance scaled to your group and no summit-or-bust pressure — then the day softens into hot food and unhurried hours aboard. The onboard sauna runs all afternoon and into the evening. Hikes, sauna cycles and relaxation are always included; dog sledding or a reindeer visit can be arranged through a vetted local operator, subject to availability and at extra cost. One last full night under the polar sky, and if the aurora wants an encore we're ready for it.
Day 7
DAY 7 — The last sail back to Tromsø

Tromso (Pass by)
Return passage · 50–60 nm (6–9 h) · Afternoon disembarkation. One last breakfast aboard as the Arctic Dream points south. Quiet hours on deck or in the saloon — debrief, photo sharing, the coast slipping past in slow blue polar light. A low-intensity, reflective sailing day, with arrival planned for the afternoon so onward connections work.
