Half an hour past the bridge and you're in another world: low hills covered in vines, whitewashed houses, and a winery still making wine the way it has for generations. The guided visit takes you through the working spaces where the wine is actually made — from the presses to the cellars where it ages in wood — with an English-speaking guide who knows the region from the inside. At the end, a seated tasting of the house wines, including the Moscatel de Setúbal that made the region famous.
After the tasting, we head to a traditional restaurant in the village, with a table reserved just for your group. The meal is served the Portuguese way — shared starters, a choice of fish or meat main, dessert — with house wine, sangria and soft drinks included, with no reason to rush back to the car.
