Are you interested in exploring socialist architecture and mosaics in Baku? Then you're in the right place! As a historian and a life long resident of Baku, I have always been fascinated by the history that my hometown's buildings and colourful mosaics have to offer to locals and tourists alike. Now, I want to share my knowledge with you!
My tour is completely free, with no entrance fee's required. Most importantly, the tour is about YOU, the guest, so feel free to ask questions, stop for photos etc.
We will see mosaics at:
Nizami Metro
Baku Music School
Azerbaijan Publishing House
Azerbaijani Technical University Sports Complex
And more!
We will be waiting for you outside the Palace of Happiness. The tour guide will wear a red hat.
The tour ends outside the Technical University Gym, which houses the final mosaic of the tour.
We will meet at Nuru Paşa Park, right next to the Baku Palace of Happiness, before starting the tour. The park also has some of Baku's best mosaics.
Come down and travel in one of the world's deepest metros, where the stories of 13th century writer Nizami come to life in mosaic form.
Stop and view the Baku's literary publishers house, whose entrance is home to one of the post-Soviet regions most famous mosaics.
Lastly, we shall end the tour in front of the Architectural University, which houses an awesome mosaic built to celebrate human achievement in sport.
