Step off the ship in Nordfjordeid and be on a mountain path within half an hour. This guided hike to Bjørneskarnakken is made for people who want to be properly active on their day ashore, not to test themselves against a mountain.
It opens with a fifteen-minute drive from the marina to the trailhead, and that drive is part of the experience rather than dead time: the road climbs away from the fjord through classic Western Norway scenery.
From the trailhead it is a 5.2 km round trip with about 300 metres of ascent. Sturdy shoes and a jacket are enough. Your guide sets the pace for the slowest person in the group, never the fastest.
At the viewpoint the fjord opens out below with mountains rising on both sides. There is time to rest, take photographs and ask questions before an easy walk back down.
Groups stay small, the whole trip takes about three hours, and the timing is built with margin before all-aboard.

Meeting and pickup
Meet your guide at Eid Småbåthamn marina, a 4-minute walk from the cruise terminal in Nordfjordeid. Your guide will be waiting from 15 minutes before the start time. Please arrive 10 minutes early so the group can leave on time. After the hike you are dropped back at the same marina.

The hike takes you up a marked path to a viewpoint high above Nordfjord, where the fjord opens out below you with mountains rising on both sides. Your guide sets the pace and points out the peaks across the water. There is time at the top to rest, take photographs and take in the view before walking back down.
