Takahē Adventures runs this private day from Auckland into the Waitākere Ranges and West Coast, guided by Paul, the owner. Just your group, with the route shaped around your pace and interests.

This generally start at the Arataki Visitor Centre, gateway to the ranges, then walk among 500-year-old kauri. Choose an easy day of short walks on formed tracks (about 5 km), a medium day with one longer walk (8–10 km), or an adventurous 15–16 km hike. No hiking experience needed.

Lunch is a gourmet New Zealand picnic beside a waterfall, in the forest or on the beach. Swim beneath the falls or between the flags at Piha, weather permitting. Finish on the Mercer Bay clifftops above the Tasman Sea before returning to Auckland around 4:30 pm.

Children are welcome and we set the pace to the slowest legs in the group. We follow kauri dieback hygiene and leave no trace.

This is a private tour and please contact us if you would like us to customise a day to shape your group.
