It is an immersion into the vibrant world of Coyoacán that reveals the essence of Frida Kahlo and her cultural legacy. It will be a sensory tour that begins with a cacao ceremony remembering the ancestors of ancient Mexico to awaken the senses and tour the area of authentic colors, aromas, and flavors. The experience is enriched with the preparation of corn tortillas or tlacoyos, where each participant becomes a chef. Art, history, and gastronomy intertwine in this unique adventure.
Exit door of the Frida Kahlo Museum, London 239 (it is not the entrance, which is at London 247). With museum: scan your digital ticket in London 247, 15 minutes before your time; your host will be waiting for you when you leave. No museum: goes directly to London 239. Your host wears a cap and a Toca México pin.
The experience ends at Frida Kahlo Park (Fernández Leal and Av. Pacífico, La Conchita neighborhood, Coyoacán), 1.4 km from the museum. Important: the Frida Kahlo Park is not the Frida Kahlo Museum. From there you can walk back to the center of Coyoacán or ask for a taxi or car via an app.
Your tickets to the Frida Kahlo Museum (Blue House) will be sent in digital format. You can tour the museum at your own pace and independently, without the accompaniment of a guide during the visit. At the end of your tour, your host will be waiting for you at the museum exit to begin the next part of the experience.
We start with a brief cacao ritual: a piece of dark chocolate to awaken the senses, as the indigenous peoples of Mexico used to do. Afterward, olla coffee or hot chocolate with a churro, while the host shows us the Coyoacán where Frida used to walk every day.
We enter the Coyoacán Market to awaken all the senses: the vibrant colors of the fruits, chilies, and flowers; the aromas of the spices and snacks; the textures of the handicrafts and the bustle of a neighborhood market that continues to beat as it has for decades. Among flavors, voices, and traditions, we will discover the ingredients that we will later take to the comal and get closer to the universe of colors and shapes of Mexican popular culture that inspired the artistic imagination of Frida Kahlo.
We will tour the Centenario Garden, admire the emblematic Coyote Fountain and the Handicraft Market. Afterward, we will go to the Parish of San Juan Bautista to discover the history and colonial architecture of Coyoacán. We will walk through the garden of the old monastery, among colorful flowers and aromas, while learning the stories that connect this neighborhood with its cultural heritage.
Feel Mexico with your own hands! In a traditional restaurant, you will discover the art of preparing tortillas, quesadillas, or tlacoyos from nixtamal on an authentic griddle. You will touch the dough, give it shape with a wooden press, and see how it transforms. Let yourself be conquered by the aroma of hot corn and enjoy your creation with delicious traditional ingredients. Much more than just tasting Mexican gastronomy: you will live a tradition full of flavor, history, and heart!
We will discover the charming Plaza de La Conchita, a corner full of history that retains the charm of old Coyoacán. We will visit its historic church and learn about the legends, secrets, and transformations that have given identity to the neighborhood throughout the centuries. A moment to go beyond, connect with the essence of Coyoacán and feel part of its history.
After a morning full of art, colors, aromas, flavors, and history, we will take a break to walk, breathe, and enjoy the atmosphere of Coyoacán. We end this experience remembering Frida Kahlo, not only as the artist, but as the woman who lived in this neighborhood, walked its streets, and left an indelible mark on the world.
