  Dohany Street Synagogue

  During the guided tour, travelers will discover the Dohány Street Synagogue, the largest in Europe and the second largest in the world, inaugurated in 1859. Built in Neo-Moorish style, it can accommodate up to 3,000 people and represents one of the most important places of Jewish culture in Budapest. The visit will allow you to admire the imposing architecture of the Synagogue and to learn about its history, from the architects who oversaw its construction to the role it has played in the life of the Jewish community. Visitors will also discover the connection of the Synagogue to the history of the Holocaust and the old Jewish Quarter, by visiting the garden where the graves of the victims of the Budapest Ghetto are located. The experience therefore offers an opportunity to get to know more closely the history, culture, and traditions of the Jewish community of Budapest through one of its symbolic places.

  Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park

  The Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park, located in the Dohány Synagogue complex, is a place dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and to those who worked to save the lives of numerous Jews during the Second World War. In the center of the park is the evocative Tree of Life, a weeping willow sculpture on whose leaves the names of the Holocaust victims are engraved. A silent and significant place, which invites reflection and keeps alive the memory of the Jewish community of Budapest.

  Hungarian Jewish Museum and Archives

  The guided tour includes access to the Jewish Museum, established at the beginning of the 20th century to tell the story, culture, and traditions of the Jewish community of Budapest. The museum is located in a building whose facade echoes the architectural style of the Synagogue, creating a harmonious and historically rich whole.

• The Dohány Synagogue is an active sacred place. Respectful clothing that covers shoulders and knees is required. Men must cover their heads inside the complex. If necessary, a kippah is provided at the entrance.
